Santiago de Chile is a modern metropolis with a shiny face and has one of South America's most dynamic economies. At the same time, struggling street vendors board city buses to hawk everything from pins to ice cream, and housemaids ride for hours to scrub floors and change nappies in exclusive suburbs.
First and foremost, smog-blighted Santiago is a city of commerce.

To be honest with u. I dont like it guys.

Thats true than u can find hips of historical buildings but this smog keeps killing me.

And I am not an architecture person to realy care about it.

Oldest buildings in Santiago

Santiago de Chile was founded in 1541 by conquistador Pedro de Valdivia. The city's grid design was laid out very early, stretching out from present-day Plaza de Armas, but attempts by the Araucanian Indians to kill everyone in town meant that for several years the settlement consisted of little more than a besieged hillside camp of adobe houses. By the late 16th century, Santiago was a settlement of just 200 houses inhabited by 700 Spaniards, plus their thousands of Indian slave-laborers and a growing population of mestizos.

Chile's presidential palace, Palacio De La Moneda (La Moneda literally means 'the coin'), was designed by Italian architect Joaquín Toesca as the official mint at the end of the 18th century. It became the presidential residence in 1846. Badly damaged by air force attacks during the 1973 military coup, it was restored before the return to democracy and now houses the presidential offices. The head of state does not reside here now.
